Tech for Good conference by Techrity.org

The Tech for Good Conference 2.0 with the theme ‘Showcasing Tech Innovation for Social Good in Africa, was largely attended by various categories of individuals; from tech experts, enthusiast, newbies and non-techies.

The Tech for Good Conference 2.0 is powered by Techrity. Techrity was coined from “Technology” and “Charity” and was founded by Owanate Amachree.

The conference kicked off with Duff Caleb the program manager, Techrity, who stated that the core aim of the non-profit organization is to discover and assist new talents in tech and to build solutions for social good in Africa.

It was moderated by the phenomenal Felix Ogbuji, a corporate MC, digital skills trainer, and business mentor.

Tech for Good – 2022

Tosin Emmanuel, the first speaker and founder of Blockchain Uniport, took the audience on a tour with the topic: Blockchain technology as a medium for social impact in Africa.

Then Franca Umasoye Igwe, creative writer, and Advocate for Indigenous Languages enlightened all as she shared how tech is Revolutionizing Indigenous Languages in Africa.

Davio White the third speaker elaborated on the design that focuses on addressing humanitarian challenges, such as enhancing the living conditions of people. He stated that understanding the problem is one key to finding solutions.

In the course of the event, Owanate Amachree, founder of Techrity Innovation Hub, gave more insight into what the organization focuses on; assisting new talents in tech, portraying the positive parts of tech, and developing and building solutions for social good.

The keynote speaker Bruce Lucas, Founder/CEO of Olotu Square in his session outlined the various areas of tech and what it can do for people.

Sokaribo Senibo a product idea validation consultant software developer and technical writer spoke on, leveraging tech for good by using technology to effect deliberate positive social benefits.

There was also a showcase of social impact projects.

Deborah Folorunso a 14-year-old techie that developed an app that can help fight addiction and rehabilitate addicted victims gave a thorough run-up of the app and how it would provide the proffered solution.

Gospel Ononwi also shared his story on Extend Africa (Tech Education and Community). He encouraged techies to be consistent, and build on what they know and the future will reward them.

Also on the showcase of projects, Ayaosi Oshoke Godfrey introduced his social impact product ‘InformHer’ which is a mobile platform that enables ladies to have access to Health Consultants by asking health related questions.

Panel Session

The panel session was another mind-blowing session with several panelists who were present to tell their stories in tech, answer questions and correct some myths in the tech ecosystem.

  • Shulammite John; founder FemCode Africa and a huge advocate for women in tech.

Tech for Good Social Impact Awards

One of the major highlights of the day was the award presentation tagged ‘Tech for Good Social Impact Awards.’ It was to celebrate individuals who were making impact in the tech ecosystem and providing social good solutions.
